This piece explores projection—a classic defense mechanism where we unconsciously attribute our own unacknowledged thoughts, feelings, or vulnerabilities onto others. In therapeutic terms, projection acts as a psychological shield, protecting us from the discomfort of facing our internal conflicts. By externalizing these complex emotions, we temporarily distance ourselves from pain, though true healing begins when we gently turn inward, recognize these mirrored parts of ourselves, and bring them into full awareness.
