Its been a long time since I created some feathers I am looking forward to this one. I have started to add the structure I will lay the feathers on top of.
Sept 26
Carving out the windows and adding the top level where the light will be. I did draw many details that will require wire to be the used.
Sept 26
The hardest part is getting started on the texture, planning how far to go with the relief and what part of the background to paint in. I have learned over time to remember that it can always be removed, shaped or carved out.
Sept 26
Im putting extra deltails on the trees and moving on to shaping the ghost. Debating if I should use real string or just plaster.
Sept 26
The bear is coming along and getting close to finished with the sculpting.
Sept 26
Acorn man is always befriending the wildlife. What should I put in the basket?
Sept 26
Ghosts like to swing too! Trees are on!
Sept 22
Rise from the ashes. The canvas has already been covered in plaster in the front and the sides for the rounded edges. I do a drawing separately and trace it on to the canvas because it is impossible to draw on a textured surface.
Sept 22
Still needs snow and possible change the metallic corner flowers to bronze
Sept 18
Fish still needs fins and continue shaping tthe bears head
Sept 18
He is all finished and approved by the client!

Sept 1 2025
It is always fun to do a small canvas, it has its challenges but also some things are easier on a smaller scale
Aug 31 2025
I am happy with the base painting on the wings that are the same color as the body. The fine lines will be copper like the details on the dragonfly
Aug 31
Plaster is looking good, Hard to get a fine point, when my nozzle keeps clogging
Aug 30 2025
Abandoned lighthouse it going to be fun. No limits on what this one will look like.
Aug 28 2025
My last fail wasn't a total loss, I did save the wings and I am confident the paint will be my saving grace.
August 28 2025
I have done a few lighthouses but this one will be a little different, pushing my abitity for details.
Aug 27 2025
Time for some 4" x 12" landscapes. First one will be the 3 sisters mountains
Aug 27 2025
I'm not surprised it didn't work out, I already have another plan.
All the gold leaf and the dragonfly have been painted in the base colors. Gold has been applied in 2 coats. Time to dry and add some clearcoat before aging the gold decorations or otherwise know as filigree, which is a common appearance in my work.
Applying the gold, this will take two coats to saturate the plaster.
You can see the 3D relief better in my videos.
Building the canvases for 3 new paintings is always a nice break. I prefer to custom build my own canvas to save time looking for a canvas. It is so much easier to build the precise size instead of settling for almost the right size.
Aug 18 2025
The fireweed grows abundantly in newly clear and burned areas. The plant also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also prevent some bacteria and fungus growth.
August 14 2025
An inukshuk is created by carefully stacking stones, typically without the use of mortar or glue, to create a human-like figure or other symbolic shape. The structure relies on the principle of balance, with each stone supporting the ones above and below it. Inukshuks are traditionally built by Inuit people and can serve various purposes, including marking trails, signaling locations, or representing human figures.
Aug 10 2025
It is completely covered with texture! I put an undercoat, it reminds me of blue and white porcelain vases.
Aug 9th 2025
One more layer! An exercise in patientce. I tried to work on this piece before it was dry and I created more work for myself.
Aug 8th 2025
Layering the fireweed , Working out if I can add one more layer or possibly wait for another time.
Aug 5 2025
Started a small 5" x 5" painting. The canvas has already been covered in plaster and sanded until smooth.
Aug 4 2025
I did put this one aside for a while to work on some commissions. Time to get this finished but it definitely seems overwhelming.
Aug 2nd 2025
Adding the grass is time consuming because I am detail orientated. I have to overcome the urge to apply every single blade of grass one by one.
Aug 1st 2025
Laying on the plaster, I am getting better at showing the 3D in the photography of my sculpture paintings. This is going to have a final layer of fireweed in the front.
